In this brief interview conducted by CNPI reporter Kristofer Rios, Henry discusses effective civic engagement strategies for the 2010 Census outreach. The Challenges of Counting the Brazilian Community of NYC

Ramona Ortegais the founder and executive director of Cidadão Global, a Queens-based Brazilian organization. Ramona wants Portuguese to be part of the many languages recognized by the city of NY, but also recognizes the lack of civic engagements from the Brazilian community. Cidadão Global is working to get as many Brazilians counted in this year’s census. She briefly spoke with CNPI reporter, Kristofer Rios at a Census workshop held at the New York Foundation on March 8.

Suspending ICE Raids During the Census

Rafael Samenes of the organization Vamos Unidos attended a Census workshop held at the New York Foundation on March 8. His organization is among those working to make sure everyone gets counted in this year’s census including the undocumented immigrants. He sat down with CNPI reporter, Kristofer Rios to discuss some of the concerns members of his community have.

Dispelling Misinformation About Census

Alisa Pizarro is a public housing organizer with Red Hook Initiative, a Brooklyn based grassroots organization. She was at a Census Briefing held on March 8 at the New York Foundation. Right after the briefing, CNPI reporter Kristofer Rios caught up with Alisa. She shared some of the organizing strategies of Red Hook Initiative, one of the partner groups involved in this year’s census outreach.
