Red Hook Public Housing

The Red Hook Housing Project is home to more than 10-thousand people, making it the second largest public housing complex in NYC. To keep the buildings in good conditions, the Housing & Urban Development wants to mortgage them, a move many advocates say could lead to a serious housing crisis. Reporter Alisa Pizzaro of Red Hook Initiative filed this report about one of the thousand residents. The story first aired on WBAI 99.5FM.

Taco Truck Owner Forced to Leave Popular Spot

Alberto Loera is a street vendor who has been the subject of police harassment for parking his taco truck next to a parking meter. A member of the Street Vendor Project, a group fighting for vendors’ rights, Alberto was a guest on CNPI’s radio show. He spoke about what’s been happening to him and many other vendors across the city. This interview first aired on WBAI 99.5FM.
