Obama Alters No Child Left Behind But Concerns Remain

Arne Duncan, the Education Secretary says states can now apply for waivers to bypass a central provision of the No Child Left Behind policy. But education activists say the administration needs to do more to address the law’s most criticized aspects. City Residents Grade the Housing Authority

A coalition of NYC based grassroots organizations joined together with residents to evaluate NYCHA and make recommendations for improvements.  The report, A Report Card for The New York City Housing Authority was released on August 7th at NYCHA headquarters in downtown Manhattan. Advocates Still Concerned About the No Child Left Behind Policy

Education Secretary Arne Duncan recently caused a stir in the education community when he announced, after months of Congressional inaction, the administration was offering “relief” from a key provision of the country’s education law, No Child Left Behind. States can now apply for waivers to bypass a central provision of the law.
