Radio Rootz
Radio Rootz works in public schools to train teens in media literacy and radio production. Rootz Youth analyze and critique the media, and learn how to create news that reflects their voices, issues, and communities. Students learn core radio production skills: writing for radio, news research, interviewing basics, and voicing a story. Visit the program page to hear their work, meet some Rootz Youth, and find out how to bring Rootz to your school.

Community News Production Institute (CNPI)
The Community News Production Institute trains grassroots community organizers and workers in radio production and media advocacy. The CNPI trainees learn production, writing, editing and research skills, and use them to support local organizing campaigns. Visit the program page to hear trainees' work and meet some of the CNPI journalists.

Digital Expansion Initiative

PPH has a unique approach to media policy that involves participatory research and media production. We are conducting a citywide survey and a more focused survey of immigrant communities to document disparities in  usage of communications technology. We are interviewing people to gather stories of their challenges accessing the Internet. And our youth-led video team is investigating the physical infrastructure of the Internet. We are working with partner community organizaions to expand community ownership of the Internet.

Media Literacy and Justice Trainings
PPH gives trainings on a range of media issues, from media literacy for teens to communications strategy for grassroots organizers. Check out our trainings page for more information.
