Shaun Abreu
Shaun Abreu, 17, was born in Washington Heights in the Presbyterian Hospital. Shaun was introduced to Radio Rootz when he was in the 6th grade at Crossroads middle school in Spanish Harlem. He produced a radio feature that has been played on Mother's Day every single year on WBAI. Shaun now loves Radio and Media Literacy! In addition to his love for media, Shaun also participates in many extra-curricular activities. Shaun works for the New York Public Library on a 113th street on Broadway. He attends a program at Columbia University called Double Discovery Center that will gear him up for College. He also is apart of the Food and Fitness Initiative, a program that wants every person in the United States and beyond to be healthy. Shaun has represented the Food and Fitness Initiative in Arizona at a national conference. Last but not least, Shaun is also a key youth member of a planning team for the creation of a new public high school in Carnarsie, Brooklyn. He has given extreme dedication to the Principal, of this new school, his former teacher of his Mr. Correa, to open up this new school. In the course of this work Shaun has been quoted in the Daily News and spoken in the community about the importance of the new school.
